The Clayton School District’s Honors Orchestra consists of elementary and middle school students and was chosen to perform at the 73rd Missouri Music Educators Conference. A brochure was designed to identify the music program and orchestra members, as well as showcase Clayton’s honor program.
This project comprised two phases: group photos of students with their instruments and design/layout.
Imagine organizing and shooting 38 children! Five group shots, individual student poses, and extra close-up photos of the musical instruments were taken. The cover originally had a stock photo of a violin, then the music director chose to use an antique European violin; a masterpiece owned by one of the students. Bravo.
On the edges of each text page, the violin and bow were placed as design elements. Bickham Script, an elegant font, was used for headlines and subheads. The school district’s blue and orange colors were used throughout the 12-page program book. Over 1000 copies were printed and given to all conference attendees.
It was an honor to create a piece highlighting such young, amazing talent.
